Global Peace Index 2025

This comprehensive report - and interactive map - from the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) can help you to better quantify peace and its benefits, understand the relationships between business, peace, and prosperity, and understand hotspots - both active and potential - for conflict. The report ranks 163 independent states and territories according to their level of peacefulness, using 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators (such as perceptions of criminality, homicide rate, incarceration rate, violent demonstrations, political terror scale, deaths from internal conflicts, and external conflicts fought) that measure the state of peace across three domains: the level of societal safety and security; the extent of ongoing domestic and international conflict; and the degree of militarisation. In addition to discussing the findings from the index map, the report also includes analysis of current conflicts, escalation hotspots and risks assessment, the economic impact of violence, and the role of positive peace in building resilience. This resource will be especially beneficial to risk professionals.
