This study provides three ways for helping you and your organisation to navigate the backlash against sustainability. The researchers identify different forms of backlash, driven by grievances, competing visions of the future, and efforts to protect the status quo. They then identify three pathways for keeping transformations on track: hope and imagination around a future that addresses key concerns, "hospicing" old systems with dignity, and radical collaboration while holding paradoxes, which refers to the capacity to create spaces where people with deeply different values and interests can engage despite conflict and uncertainty. This study will be especially insightful for change agents and thought leaders.
